Continuing a passion for teaching through tutoring
Angelina Holt, EQPD Tutor and Educator
Driven by her passion for shaping young students’ lives and helping build their confidence, Angelina Holt wanted to change her role in education when she found EQPD and became a tutor. As a spouse of a military member and an educator during the global pandemic, Holt wanted a position where she could continue working with kids without the repetition and restrictions of the traditional school calendar.
Working with EQPD has allowed Holt to travel when she desires and care for those she loves while still being able to follow her passion for educating students. Specializing in elementary reading, Holt feels her role is pivotal to setting students up for success.
“When you are an educator, you are a time traveler,” Holt said. “You can see how things will work out if you change a student’s trajectory by just a little bit and you can see what will happen if you don’t. You are a future seer.”
After participating in a 12-week course with Holt, students leave not only mastering their skills, but also with a boost in self-confidence.
Through Holt’s experience working with EQPD, she has learned what she wants as an educator and how she would like to impact students. She never wants a student to feel like they are less than just because they are having a hard time with their academics. She believes that through education, they can create a world that is full of hope and academic rigor.
““At the beginning of each session, I always run through expectations,” Holt said. “My final one is that they never give up. We repeat it each session, no matter what. I only get so many sessions with each student and if I can show them that they have the power to overcome obstacles, then I’ve done my job.””
