Some FAQs About
the K-12 Connect Transition to EQPD

What does it mean that K-12 Connect is spinning out from the GV NextEd Co-Lab incubator?

Q.

The spinout means that K-12 Connect is transitioning from being part of an incubator – we’re currently a member of the GV NextEd Co-Lab – to becoming a fully independent nonprofit organization. This move reflects our growth and maturity and allows us to establish our own identity and operations.

A.

Why is the organization leaving Grand Valley State University?

Q.

We don’t consider spinning out from the Co-Lab as “leaving GVSU” – it's simply the process that occurs when a startup achieves a level of success that allows them to take the next step. We will remain close partners with the university and appreciate their support over the past four years as we have grown. Without their support, we would not be as far along as we are today and we are looking forward to broadening and deepening our work with the GVSU community.

A.

Why did K-12 Connect rebrand during this transition?

Q.

Changing our name from K-12 Connect to EQPD (pronounced “equipped”) allows us to align our brand with our expanded vision and goals as a standalone organization. The new brand identity will help us better communicate our mission, differentiate ourselves in the market, and reflect our commitment to providing high-quality, high-impact tutoring services.

A.

Will the spinout affect the quality or availability of tutoring services?

Q.

No, the quality and availability of our tutoring services will remain consistent. We will continue delivering exceptional support to our students and partners and aim to further enhance our offerings.

A.

Will there be any changes to the organization’s leadership or team?

Q.

The core leadership and team that you are familiar with will remain in place. The same team members who have been instrumental to our success will continue to guide us in this new chapter.

A.

How does this transition affect existing partnerships?

Q.

Existing partnerships will not be affected. Our relationship with existing partners is important to us, and we are committed to maintaining and strengthening those partnerships.

A.

What benefits can customers and partners expect from this transition?

Q.

As a standalone nonprofit organization, we will have greater agility to respond to market needs, develop innovative programs, and expand our tutoring offerings.
